Roadmap to Re-open Step 3

The Government of Ontario announced on July 12th  that the province will move to Step 3 of its reopening plan on July 16 at 12:01 a.m. The province will remain in Step 3 for at least 21 days.

The following is the information for churches:

Expanded capacity for religious services, rites, ceremonies including weddings and funerals. No fixed capacity is mandated, however, since physical distancing requirements remain in place, indoor capacity is approximately one-third/33% capacity. The seating arrangements in the church at this time will remain in place allowing for distancing and the 1/3 capacity. A reminder that no reservations are required for all Masses/Liturgical celebrations.

Requirements for masks or face coverings remain in place in indoor public settings throughout Step 3 and are likely to remain in place until at least September.

Protocols for cleaning pews, washrooms and confessional rooms have been relaxed so as to require only regular cleaning in accordance with pre-Covid-19 routines.  Contact tracing remains required and if someone with suspected or known Covid-19 has attended, affected areas will be disinfected.

Distribution  of bulletins and pamphlets will resume.  The votive candle stand can be used but a two meter distance is required when more than one person is waiting.

The collection procedure  and Communion protocols will remain the same for now.  We ask that those who receive Communion on the hand come up first and those who receive on the tongue proceed after.  The ushers will ask your preference and guide you.

The dispensation from Sunday Mass attendance remains in effect.
