Duties and Responsibilities

“The Catholic Women's League of Canada is a notional organization rooted in gospel values calling its members to holiness through service to the people of God” (From our Mission Statement). We are an organization that contributes to the life and vitality of the church, family and community, both at home and abroad. Members also participate by paying annual dues to the national organization as well as participation and coordination of various social activities. Since the Catholic Women's League is separate organization, membership alone does not require a police record check, unless they are volunteering in a parish ministry that does require a police check.

National Activities: The CWL is a powerful national lobby group that has the attention of our religious and secular leadership. This year alone, the CWL is promoting 5 resolutions: Equal Access to Permanent Resident Status, an Amendment to the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; Eating Well With Canada's Food Guide;  Warning Labels on Food and Drug Products for all Inactive Substances and Additives; Amend the Canada Health Act to Identify Palliative Care as an Insured Health Service; Amend the Canada Health Act to Include Home Care as an Insured Health Service.

Local Activities: To name a few, our local CWL assists with funeral luncheons, various social activities after Mass, and, of course, our CWL bazaar in November. The women of the parish provide a wonderful resource to our young people through bursaries and scholarships and are always ready to help those in need.

Membership: Please contact the parish if you are interested in joining. There is an annual fee which helps support activities both at the national and local level.
