Responsible Faith Ministry

Duties and Responsibilities

A Responsible Faith Minister works as a member of a team to ensure that the Diocese of St. Catharines Responsible Faith Ministry policy is followed for the parish. The Responsible Faith Minister assists with interviews, references, orientation and policy and procedures for all volunteers.  He/She works directly with the pastor and other members of the Ministry. This is a professional and enriching position. Because you come across confidential and sensitive information, a police vulnerable sector check is necessary.

Duties: Include, but are not limited to; working with and meeting people, scheduling, interviewing, and referencing volunteers, keeping informed and communicating compassionately.

Qualifications: The Responsible faith ministry position is part of a small committee of deeply trusted individuals. You will be expected to work as part of a team and to keep information absolutely confidential. Some experience coordinating volunteers or personnel would be most helpful.

Commitment: Familiarity with the Diocesan Responsible Faith Ministry Policy, and some meetings will be required, scheduled as needed. Working in Pairs, responsible faith ministers may be asked to interview volunteers in high risk positions. Sensitive or difficult matters will always be handled by the pastor.

Training: Training sessions are scheduled through the Diocesan Responsible Faith Ministry Office and volunteers will be notified when they become available.
